ISLAND token stakers will be granted the ability to vote on proposals. For V1, the core team will periodically update a list of items for holders to vote on.

We consider this initial form of governance to be light governance. Premature decentralization of decision-making can reduce ownership, responsibility, and decision quality. In its initial state, ISLAND governance enables the holder base to weigh in and make their opinions known to the team without causing paralysis.

Initially, governance proposals will fall under the following types:

• High-Level: Higher-level questions on what direction the platform should evolve into.
  • Example: Which of these 20 areas should we focus on next:
    • New playground game
    • Progression expansion
    • Island creator tools
    • Vehicles
    • ...
• Low-Level: Vote to determine what features the core team focuses on building next.
  • Example: which of these 3 playground games should we build next?

Future versions of this this governance system may introduce more flexibility including the option for holders to create proposals of their own.
